From hometown gyms to icy world stages.
Ice climbing in Canada is more than a sport—it’s a journey that begins in our own backyards and stretches across the globe. Our athletes train everywhere from homemade caves and climbing gyms to full-scale competition structures and frozen waterfalls. Whether it’s a drytool circuit in a garage or a youth session at Climb YEG in Edmonton, every swing builds toward something bigger.
We climb in community-run gyms, on purpose-built structures, and on real ice when winter allows. With training hubs in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec we’re proving that world-class athletes can come from unlikely places.
And we don’t stop at the border.
Team Canada competes across North America, Europe, and Asia, facing off on the world stage in legendary venues like Saas-Fee (Switzerland), Cheongsong (South Korea), Champagny-en-Vanoise (France), and Ouray (Colorado). These events showcase both lead and speed climbing at the highest level—and we’re proud to have Canadians on the roster.
Each place we climb adds to our story. Some venues are humble and homemade, others are electric under the lights of international competition. But they all matter.
Because we climb with one goal:
To grow the sport, build our community, and carry the maple leaf wherever the axes swing.
